Type: White Wine
Region & Country: Mosel, Germany
Description: Weingut Clüsserath has been in the hands of the family since 1670, now run by current generation and daughter to Ansgar, Eva Clüsserath. Eva's winemaking knowledge may have been learned at the University of Geisenheim but also fine tuned during her stints in wineries in Pfalz and the Rheinhessen, where her husband Phillipp Wittmann also makes some of the world's most sought after wines.
The name of the vineyard 'Apotheke' may have come from an old apothecary that was nearby. This southwest facing vineyard itself is incredibly steep and treacherous to farm and its aspect produces riper and fuller bodied Rieslings that still retain that vein of minerality Mosel Rieslings are especially known for.
