Description: Elisabetta Foradori may be one of the most influential modern winemakers of Northern Italy, a true custodian of some of the lesser known grape varieties of the alpine Trentino region of Italy. At borders with Austria, Trentino is home to a few indigenous varieties that thrive in its cooler climate. Nosiola, Manzoni Bianco, Marzemino and Teroldego are a few that are found nowhere else other than here.
The Manzoni Bianco variety was developed in the 1930s by crossing Riesling with Pinot Blanc. It proved to be a successful variety and produced floral and light white wines. Foradori's Manzoni Bianco ferments on the skins and then ages for 12 months in Acacia barrels.
