The volcanoes - of past and present - have bestowed to mankind some of the most fertile soils, ideal for the exploits of agriculture. The grapevine has found a unique home on some of these soils, in the various volcanic regions of this marvelous and magma-fied world. The terroir-ists and romanticists of the wine world argue that 'volcanic wines' capture and present in the bottle unarguably volcanic flavours, only to the annoyance of the pragmatist and the boffin.
